As a leading research and student training centre for postgraduate students seeking to become clinical exercise physiologist's, our clinic’s operational structure includes our postgraduate students, who are a part of each client’s clinical team. Based in our well-equipped physiology laboratory and biomechnics unit, each team is managed by experienced professional teaching fellows from our Exercise Science’s programme, some of whom are leading researchers in their field.

People who seek our service find relief from a wide range of chronic conditions such as heart disease, hypertension, peripheral vascular disease, lung disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, neuromuscular disorders, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, obesity and many other conditions.

How we can help you

All our treatments are evidence-based and driven by assessment so they can be individualised to fit your unique needs.

Upon entering our service, you will meet with a clinical exercise physiologists who will work with you to design an appropriate assessment plan for your condition. At least two assessment sessions will be undertaken to measure your current fitness levels -  heart and lung function, muscle strength, coordination and balance. Following these assessments, we will meet with you to discuss our findings and to discuss treatment options.

Our registered clinical exercise physiologists and students work alongside colleagues in allied health to prescribe you with safe and effective exercise. If you are under specialist care, or you require an on-going treatment plan to maintain your current health and wellbeing, please contact us and arrange an appointment.

Treatment plan

We use exercise science to assist you to develop, maintain or improve your physical function.  Our comprehensive and evidence-based approach is aimed at teaching you how to exercise safely and effectively with your medical condition, while helping you gain your confidence to transition to independent exercise.

You will be provided with one on one supervision to learn how to perform your exercises correctly and safely. Your clinic sessions are monitored using the latest technology, such as the Samsung S-Patch ECG monitor, to ensure your body’s response to the exercise is appropriate and safe.

We will teach you how to monitor your body’s response to exercise and how to properly judge exercise intensity so you can stay within safe limits when exercising independently.

Upon referral, either by a health care professional or by self-referral, our team will design and direct a rehabilitative prescription to work with you to deliver a treatment option best suited to your individual needs.

We welcome self-referrals. If you need support to maintain your treatment plan – to recover from chronic illness or injury; or you want to create a bespoke fitness strategy to reduce the risk of developing cardiac disease and other chronic conditions, please contact us and we will arrange an assessment.
